These map books were issued just after the 1970 merger to familiarize railroad personnel with the facilities of the various merging railroads: Great Northern Railway, the Northern Pacific Railway, the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad, and the Spokane, Portland and Seattle Railway. The book is broken into regions: Chicago, Omaha, Twin Cities, Billings, Portland and Seattle. There are 165 maps. It appears that every yard is covered, in great detail. The larger yards and facilities have more than one page. As this book was made up of maps from formally independent railroads, they are presented in a couple of different formats.
