Even in 1957, the Northern Pacific rostered a large assortment of steam locomotives. This diagram book has diagrams for switchers and main line power along with tenders and auxiliary tenders. It was originally assigned to the Boiler Foreman at Brainerd Shops and was last updated in 1957. The index pages show as crossed out all the diagrams no longer in the book. You can tell this was a much thicker book in the mid-40’s! Locomotive classes included in this diagram book:

This is a scan of an original Northern Pacific Railway Locomotive Diagram Book. 8.5 x 11 inches. 1957. 105 pages: 89 diagram pages (about 40 are tenders), with 14 index pages and two key/legend pages. The original is made up of blueprints, some of which were quite old. Some of the original pages – and so some of the scan pages – were difficult to read because of the typical, fading, nature of blueprints. All white-line blueprints have been printed in black-line for this scan to make them as easy to read as possible. All diagrams have been included so that this book is as complete a historical picture as can be had for Northern Pacific steam in 1957.
